Malong, in a decree extended to Sudan Tribune, appointed General Malang Kerbino Kuanyin Bol as the Chief of General Staff for his rebel movement.

The March 26, 2021 order also saw General Dickson Gatluak Joak appointed Deputy Chief of Staff for Administration and Finance, General Agany Deng Baak as Deputy Chief of General Staff for Operations, General Philip Okuot Obich as Deputy Chief of General Staff for Military Moral Orientation and General Emmanuel Majur Majak as Director of Military Intelligence.

“This order shall come into force from the date of its signature by the Chairman and Commander-in-Chief of South Sudan United Front/Army (SSUF/A),” reads the decree.

Malong was appointed army chief of staff in January 2014 and sacked in May 2017. He later formed SSUF/A in April 2018 to fight President Salva Kiir’s government.
