صحيفة سودان تربيون اخبار السودان / ديسمبر 10, 2021

December 9, 2021 (KHARTOUM) – Two Turkish workers were freed by security forces on Thursday after two days of their abduction by unknown gunmen in North Darfur state.

The kidnapping of the two engineers was disclosed by Minni Minnawi, Darfur Governor on Tuesday.

The official news agency SUNA reported that the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) managed to release the abductees in the Kabkabiya area of North Darfur and arrested one of the kidnappers.

“RSF Major Mualla Abdallah confirmed that the two Turks are in good health and that they will be transferred to El Fasher on Friday,” said SUNA.

The circumstances of their abduction are not clear.

After his release on Tuesday by the abductors, their driver stated that the kidnappers want the government to arrest the criminals who killed their relatives before freeing them.

Despite the signing of a peace agreement with several armed groups in October 2020, the security situation is very fragile due to the increase of tribal fighting over water and grazing land.
