December 12, 2021 (KHARTOUM) – Buthaina Dinar Minister of Federal Government on Sunday relieved acting state governors appointed by the Commander-in-Chief of the Sudanese army after the military takeover.

Abdel-Fattah Al-Burhan on October 25, removed all the FFC appointed cabinet ministers and state governors from their positions and replaced the governors with 18 state secretaries-general tasked with the administration of the regional governments.

Only the federal ministers and state governors appointed in accordance with the Juba peace agreement maintained their positions. Dinar is a leading member of the SPLM-N Agar who joined the government after the peace deal.

In a statement released on Sunday, the Office of the Prime Minister said that upon the directives of Abdallah Hamdok, the minister of federal government dismissed the general-secretaries of the 18 state governments in Sudan.

The statement further included the names of the new acting governors picked by the prime minister.

The Hamdok-Burhan deal of 21 November provides that the prime minister should freely form his cabinet and administer the country under the supervision of the military-controlled Sovereign Council.

Before reinstating Hamdok, al-Burhan purged the federal and state governments from all the senior officials nominated by the Forces for Freedom and Change coalition which signed the constitutional declaration governing the transition in Sudan.

Also, the coup leader sacked the diplomats who supported Hamdok. The latter, still, did not get a green light to reinstate them.
